Today, I’m thrilled to announce the start of my campaign for Puyallup City Council, District 1! At the heart of my campaign is a simple belief: the City exists to serve the people—not the other way around. That means responsive local government, practical solutions to everyday problems, and leaders who are present, accountable and committed to fairness.
Safe Streets
My campaign is built on a vision for Puyallup that focuses on safe streets, strong community, and smart leadership. Public safety, including safe streets, is a cornerstone of a thriving community. As a former Puyallup police officer, I know firsthand the importance of ensuring every resident feels secure— whether at home, at work or walking downtown.
Strong Community
I believe having a strong community means bringing everyone together no matter how long we’ve lived here, or what our backgrounds may be. Being born and raised in Puyallup gives me a natural feel for our city’s community spirit — our resilience, our increasing diversity, and our dedication to always doing right by our neighbors. From remembering that we live and work on the ancestral lands of the Puyallup Tribe, known as the Land of the Generous People, to recognizing the struggles every generation in Puyallup has overcome, I’m running for office to bring that spirit of resiliency, generosity and service to City Council.
Smart Leadership
Smart leadership starts with listening. I have outlined some proposals on my campaign issues page, but I encourage you to explore what I write and then reach out with an email or comment at the bottom of the page, joining me in the conversation about the future of our city. The website is more than a campaign hub—it’s an open door to connect and share ideas with one another. Sharing and vetting proposals with everyone affected is how we can cultivate smart decisions and lead the city into a better future.
Let’s Do This
Thank you for reading my first blog post. I hope you’ll follow my new social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, BlueSky) to share your thoughts, and be part of building a better Puyallup for everyone. If we haven’t met yet, check out my about page and let me know if you have any questions. If you are ready to support, please contribute by donating for yard signs, flyers and other campaign expenses this summer, or by listing your name on my fall kick-off event endorsement page. I’d be honored and grateful.
Thank you! – Jeff Bennett
